Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring the Staircase of Knowledge.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
Start in the Old Town of Rhodes. Make your way to the main street, Ippokratous Street, and head towards the Palace of the Grand Master. Exit the Old Town through the D'Amboise Gate and follow the road leading out towards the coast. Once you reach the coast, take a left onto the seaside promenade and continue walking straight. After about 20 minutes, you will see signs directing you towards Kameirou. Continue following the signs. The Staircase of Knowledge is located approximately 12KM from the Old Town, so be prepared for a long walk. If you feel tired, consider taking breaks along the way at local cafes.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From the Old Town, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'D'Amboise Gate'. Look for the bus service that heads towards Kameirou. Buses are frequent, and you can ask locals for the exact bus number heading in that direction. Once you're on the bus, stay on until you reach the stop closest to 'Kameirou, Rodos'. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1KM to reach the Staircase of Knowledge. Follow the signs or ask locals if you need directions.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in the Old Town. Once you have your bike, head out through the D'Amboise Gate and follow the coastal road towards Kameirou. The ride is scenic, and should take about 30-40 minutes depending on your speed. The Staircase of Knowledge will be along your route, and you can park your bike nearby when you arrive.
