Walking
The Old Town is primarily a pedestrian zone. If you are arriving from the New Town or the harbor area, the main entrances are easily accessible on foot. From Mandraki Harbour, walk south along the waterfront, passing the New Market, until you reach the Gate of Liberty (Eleftherias Gate), one of the main entrances to the Old Town. Alternatively, from the bus station near Averof Street, walk east towards the sea and enter through one of the southern gates. Once inside the walls, follow the signs to key landmarks such as the Palace of the Grand Master or the Street of the Knights. Be aware that the cobblestone streets can be uneven, so wear appropriate footwear.
Public Transport
Local buses connect Rhodes Town with other parts of the island. Bus routes and schedules are available at the bus stops and online. If arriving by bus from outside Rhodes Town, the bus will likely drop you off near Averof Street, a short walk from the Old Town. From there, head east towards the sea and enter through one of the southern gates. A single bus fare within Rhodes Town costs approximately €1.20. Tickets can be purchased at kiosks or directly from the driver.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Rhodes. Taxi stands can be found in Rhodes Harbour and near the castle. Taxis can drop you off at designated points just outside the Old Town walls, as vehicles are restricted from entering. From there, it's a short walk to any of the entrances. Taxi fares are fixed at approximately €1 per km. A short trip from the harbor to the Old Town should cost around €5-€10. Agree on the fare before starting your journey.
