If you are driving, start from Chania and take the E65 road towards Sfakia. The drive will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach Sfakia, follow the signs for Samaria Gorge. You can park your car at the designated parking area in Sfakia. From the parking area, head towards the trailhead for Papakefala summit, which is approximately a 30-minute hike from the parking area.

To reach Papakefala summit using public transport, take a KTEL bus from Chania to Sfakia. Buses usually run several times a day and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving in Sfakia, disembark at the bus station. From there, follow the signs to the trailhead for Papakefala summit, which is about a 30-minute hike from the bus station.

Hiking
From the trailhead, begin your hike to Papakefala summit. The trail is well-marked but can be steep in sections, so wear appropriate hiking gear.
