An alternative to walking is the cable car. The cable car station is near Fira's main square. A one-way ticket costs around €6. The ride takes 3-5 minutes. At the Old Port, the Karavolades Stairs provide the path back up.

If arriving at Athinios Port, take the bus to Fira. The bus costs approximately €2.50. From Fira bus station, walk towards the caldera. Follow signs to the Old Port and cable car to find the stairs.

From the Santorini Airport or another town, take a taxi to Fira. The taxi rank is near Fira's main square. Ask the driver to drop you off near the caldera. From there, walk towards the Old Port and cable car to find the Karavolades Stairs. A taxi from the airport to Fira costs approximately €20.
