The Gravia Inn, or *Hani Gravias*, is more than just a building; it's a monument to a defining moment in the Greek War of Independence. On May 8, 1821, this humble inn became the site of an extraordinary battle where 120 Greek revolutionaries, led by Odysseas Androutsos, bravely faced an Ottoman army of 8,000-9,000 soldiers. Strategically positioned, the inn provided a crucial defensive point. Androutsos and his men fortified themselves within its walls, repelling wave after wave of Ottoman attacks. The Greeks inflicted heavy casualties on the Ottomans while sustaining minimal losses themselves. This unlikely victory boosted the morale of the Greek revolutionaries and significantly impacted the war's trajectory. The original inn was eventually destroyed, but a replica was built in 1999 to honor the battle and its heroes. Today, the reconstructed Gravia Inn serves as a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the events of that fateful day. Exhibits showcase local history, traditional crafts, and the figures who played a role in the battle. Visitors can also learn about the tactics used by Androutsos and his men, as well as the broader context of the Greek War of Independence. The site also features reenactments of the battle.Located in the village of Gravia, in the foothills of Mount Parnassos, the inn is surrounded by a landscape of rolling hills and vibrant greenery.
