Laganas Beach is the most popular and developed beach in Zakynthos, stretching for 9 kilometers along the Laganas Bay. The beach features soft, golden sand and shallow, clear waters, making it ideal for families with children. The central part of the beach is well-organized with sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent, while the ends offer a quieter, more secluded experience. Laganas is a vibrant resort town with numerous beach bars, restaurants, tourist shops, and hotels lining the shore. While noisy water sports are prohibited to protect the nesting turtles, visitors can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and boat trips to nearby Marathonisi islet and the Keri Caves. Laganas's history dates back to a traditional island village, with its name possibly derived from the Italian word "laguna," describing the bay's lagoon-like appearance.
