Founded by Theodoros Mercouri, a businessman with roots in Alexandria, Egypt and Northern Italy, the estate has been lovingly cultivated by five generations of the Mercouri-Kanellakopoulos family. Originally focused on wine, olive oil, and Corinthian grapes, the estate now welcomes visitors to experience its vineyards, olive groves, and traditional Greek hospitality. The estate spans approximately 40 acres and cultivates over 15 grape varieties, both Greek and international. Among them are the red Refosco (originally imported from Northern Italy), Avgoustiatis, and Mavrodaphne, as well as the white Robola, Viognier and Malvasia Aromatica. Visitors can tour the wine production facilities, explore the vineyards and olive groves, and discover a small agricultural museum showcasing antique tools and machinery. The tour often concludes with a tasting of the estate's products under the shade of pine trees, offering views of the Ionian Sea and Zakynthos Island. In addition to its wine production, Mercouri Estate is committed to sustainable practices and preserving its historical legacy.
