In the heart of Exo Chora, a small village in Zakynthos, stands a remarkable testament to time: an olive tree estimated to be over 2,000 years old. This ancient tree, located at the main street's corner junction, is hard to miss and serves as a living monument to the island's history and natural heritage.The Old Olive Tree is more than just a tree; it's a symbol of Zakynthos. Its gnarled trunk, now split into two, tells a silent story of centuries of growth and endurance. Despite its age, the tree still produces olives, a tangible link to the island's agricultural traditions.Exo Chora itself is a traditional village that offers a glimpse into the authentic Zakynthian lifestyle. The village is located about 24 km west of Zakynthos Town. In the village square, visitors can find a cozy tavern, cafes, and shops selling local products like olive oil, homemade cheeses, wines, and liqueurs. The village also has an 'old town' with narrow streets and the 17th-century church of St. Nikolaos.
