In 1976, the government granted the space for use as a museum of archaeology and history.The museum's exhibits showcase a diverse collection of artifacts and displays that narrate Grenada's story from its earliest inhabitants to the colonial era and beyond. Visitors can explore exhibits dedicated to the Amerindians, the European invasion, the transatlantic slave trade, and the plantation economy. Displays also feature remnants of pottery, an ancient rum still, and a marble bathtub said to have been used by Empress Josephine during her childhood.
