    Discover more about Levera Beach

Levera Beach, a jewel within Levera National Park, offers a captivating blend of serene beauty and untamed wilderness. Situated on the northernmost coast of Grenada, near the town of Sauteurs, this beach presents a tranquil escape from the more bustling tourist spots. Backed by low, eroding sea cliffs and lush vegetation, Levera Beach boasts a long sweep of sparkling white sand, providing wonderful views of the cone-shaped Sugar Loaf Island, Green Island, and Sandy Island just offshore. Levera Beach is more than just a pretty face; it's an ecologically significant area. The beach is a critical nesting ground for endangered leatherback sea turtles, with nesting season typically running from April to August. During this time, the beach is often off-limits in the evenings to protect these magnificent creatures, though authorized tours are available. The area also encompasses a diverse range of habitats, including woodland, dry scrub forest, mangrove wetlands, a brackish pond, seagrass beds, and coral reefs, making it a haven for a wide variety of bird species. While Levera's natural allure is undeniable, it's worth noting that swimming can be challenging due to strong waves and currents. However, the beach is perfect for secluded walks, sunbathing, and enjoying the panoramic views. The adjacent Levera National Park offers opportunities for hiking and exploring Grenada's natural beauty. Levera has a rich history; the area was once Levera Estate, primarily used for coconut cultivation. The Levera wetland is Grenada's only Ramsar site, designated as a Wetland of International Importance.
