Prickley Bay: A Cruiser's Haven in Grenada

Prickley Bay is a large, open bay situated on the southwestern end of Grenada, known as a central spot for the cruising community. The bay's popularity stems from its well-protected anchorage, although it's open to the south, which can sometimes cause rolling due to swells. The surrounding area features attractive villas nestled among the trees, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. Prickley Bay is more than just a pretty anchorage; it's a hub for services catering to yachties. Prickley Bay Marina provides docking, mooring, and other services. Nearby, Spice Island Marine Services offers a boatyard and chandlery. Budget Marine, a well-known Caribbean chain, also has a branch in the area, making it easy to source supplies and equipment. Beyond its nautical amenities, Prickley Bay offers convenient access to the island's attractions. A short dinghy ride will take you to a bus stop, where you can catch a bus to St. George's and other parts of Grenada. In 1983, during Operation Urgent Fury, American students informed the Rangers that there was a third campus with Americans at Prickley Bay.
