Discover more about L'ance aux Épines Lighthouse

The L'ance aux Épines Lighthouse stands as a sentinel on the southernmost point of Grenada, within the residential community of L'ance aux Épines. The name L'ance aux Épines translates to "The Beach/Bay of Thorns". While Grenada attracts various vessels, surprisingly few lighthouses exist on the island. The first, a small beacon on Fort George, has been inactive since 2017. Another, installed at Pointe Saline in 1904, was moved to the airport after being decommissioned in the 1980s. The Prickly Point Lighthouse is the only active navigation aid. The 98-foot, green tower is located at the tip of Lance aux Épines Peninsula. Though privately owned and not generally open for tours, the lighthouse remains a recognizable landmark, contributing to the coastal charm of the area. You can, however, walk down the street to experience the view. The area provides a tranquil environment, with beautiful beaches and a relaxed atmosphere.
