Grenada National Cricket Stadium: A Caribbean Cricket Gem

The Grenada National Cricket Stadium, formerly known as Queen's Park, is a historic and vibrant cricket venue located in St. George's, Grenada. The original Queen's Park ground dates back to 1887, marking the beginning of Grenada's involvement in West Indies cricket. The stadium was rebuilt in 2000 and opened as an international Test venue in 2002, becoming the 84th Test venue. The stadium has a seating capacity of 20,000 and is known for its picturesque setting, surrounded by lush hills, creating a unique Caribbean atmosphere. It has hosted several significant events, including the 2007 Cricket World Cup matches and ongoing international and regional cricket tournaments. The stadium was reconstructed in 2006 after being destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The stadium was funded by the People's Republic of China. Beyond cricket, the stadium hosts carnival activities, international and local cultural events, and shows. It also includes facilities for office space, storage, conventions, meetings, and a gym. Adjacent to the cricket stadium is the Kirani James Athletic Stadium, which hosts athletic and football events.
