    Discover more about Lake Antoine

Lake Antoine, situated 6 miles north of Grenville, is a captivating crater lake formed by the collapse of an extinct volcanic dome. This natural wonder, approximately 14,000 years old, is considered the island's finest example of a tuffaceous ring, with a circular crater encircled by consolidated volcanic ash. Once measured at 100 feet deep in 1939, siltation has reduced its depth to between 16 and 23 feet. The lake covers 42 acres and supports a rich wetland ecosystem. While the original vegetation has been cleared for agriculture, it remains a significant water body in Grenada. Lake Antoine is a prime location for birdwatching, attracting various species, including herons, ruddy ducks, and snail kites. The lake's vantage point offers views of the uninhabited Grenadines. Nearby attractions include the River Antoine Rum Distillery and Belmont Estate, offering a blend of nature and culture.
