Discover more about Fish Eye Underwater Observatory

Located within the Piti Bay Marine Preserve, the Fish Eye Underwater Observatory offers a unique opportunity to explore Guam's underwater world. As Micronesia's only underwater observatory, it provides a window into a vibrant ecosystem teeming with marine life. To reach the observatory, visitors stroll along a 300-meter (900-foot) ocean bridge, enjoying the sea breeze and panoramic views of Piti Bay. The bay itself is part of the Piti Bomb Holes Marine Preserve, named for natural freshwater percolation pits that resemble bomb craters. These pits create a unique habitat for a diverse array of marine species. Once inside the observatory, descend 72 steps on a spiral staircase to the viewing deck, located 10 meters (approximately 30 feet) below the surface. Here, 24 large viewing windows (16 large and 8 smaller for children) offer a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding reef. Divers often frequent the area, attracting schools of fish that can be observed from the observatory. Keep an eye out for barracuda, needlefish, bluefin trevally, unicorn fish, and even the occasional blacktip shark or stingray. For those who prefer to remain above water, a live video feed from the underwater chamber is displayed on a monitor on the upper deck. Beyond the observatory itself, Fish Eye Marine Park offers a range of activities, including snorkeling, diving, and dolphin-watching tours. The park also features cultural experiences, such as coconut demonstrations, providing insights into the traditions of the Pacific Islands.
