Ancestral Chamoru Reburial Monument: A Tribute to Guam's Heritage

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Tumon area, head north on Marine Corps Drive (Rte 1 N). Continue walking along the sidewalk for approximately 15 minutes, passing shops and restaurants. Look for the large Hotel Nikko on your left as a landmark. After passing the hotel, continue for another 5 minutes until you see the Ancestral Chamoru Reburial Monument on your right, just before the intersection with Paseo de la Playa. The monument is located at 1355 Rte 1 N.

• Public Transport

  From various points in Guam, you can take a bus to Tumon. Look for bus routes that service Marine Corps Drive (Route 1). Once in Tumon, alight at a stop near Hotel Nikko or another recognizable landmark on Route 1 N. From there, walk north for approximately 5 minutes until you see the Ancestral Chamoru Reburial Monument on your right, located at 1355 Rte 1 N. Bus fares typically average around $3 per ride. A Tumon Shuttle bus is also available for $7 per ride or a 1-Day Pass for $15.

• Taxi/Ride-Share

  Taxis are readily available at hotels and major shopping centers in Guam. The standard flag rate is $2.40, $4.00 for the first mile, and $0.80 every 1/4 mile thereafter. A taxi from the Guam Airport (GUM) to Tumon typically costs $25-$35. From Tumon, a short taxi ride to the Ancestral Chamoru Reburial Monument should cost between $5 and $10, depending on the starting point and traffic.
