Getting There

Walking

If you are already in Pagat, head towards coordinates FR7W+2G2. Follow the dirt path leading towards the cave entrance, staying on marked trails for safety. The cave is located approximately 1 mile from the main road. There is a parking area just off the road to park in.
Public Transport

From Hagåtña, take a local bus heading towards the northern part of the island along Route 1. Inform the driver you are headed to Pagat. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Pagat, walk approximately 1 mile to the entrance of Taguan Cave. Check the bus schedule ahead of time as services may be limited. A one-time ride ticket on the Red Shuttle Bus costs $4.

Taguan Cave, situated in the serene area of Pagat, Guam, is a breathtaking natural attraction. The cave boasts remarkable rock formations sculpted over centuries, creating a stunning landscape perfect for exploration. The entrance reveals a vista where sunlight illuminates the clear waters, inviting visitors to swim and relax. The surrounding lush greenery beautifully contrasts with the rugged terrain, offering a peaceful retreat away from crowded tourist spots.Believed to have been occupied by ancient Chamorro people, Pagat Cave features ancient petroglyphs, rock carvings made by the Chamorros, showcasing their artistic expression and spiritual beliefs. These carvings often depict figures and symbols that reflect their connection to nature and their ancestors. The cave is believed to have been used by ancient Chamorros as a burial site and for rituals.The hike to Taguan Cave is relatively easy and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The trail changes dramatically at one point to a steep grade of limestone cliffs. The limestone is jagged and some places are slippery, so we had to watch our steps carefully both ways.
