Discover more about Guam Zoo

Nestled in Tumon, Guam, the Guam Zoo, officially named Guam Zoological, Botanical & Marine Gardens, offers a unique and intimate wildlife experience. Founded in 1977 by Jimmy and Barbara Cushing, this privately-owned zoo is a sanctuary for rescued animals, showcasing both native Guam fauna and exotic species from around the world. Visitors can encounter a diverse collection of animals, including the Micronesian starling, Mariana fruit bat, carabao, Sandbar deer, emus, ostriches, sea turtles, crocodiles, and a monkey. The zoo is also home to the Guam Kingfisher, also known as the Ko'Ko' bird, which is extinct in the wild on Guam. The cozy layout of the zoo allows for close encounters with the animals, creating a deeper appreciation for wildlife. The Guam Zoo plays a vital role in conservation efforts, providing a home for endangered species and educating the public about the importance of protecting Guam's natural heritage. The zoo resembles more of an animal sanctuary where one can really get up close and personal with a surprisingly wide variety of creatures. A visit to the Guam Zoo not only offers an enjoyable experience but also supports a noble cause.
