Getting There

  • Car

    From the A.B. Won Pat International Airport, take Route 10A to Marine Corps Drive (Route 1). Turn left onto Route 1 and drive approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Route 6 and travel about 4 miles. The Asan Bay Overlook will be on the right. Parking is free.

  • Public Transport

    From Asan Beach Park, take local Bus Route 65 heading north towards Hagatna. Ride for about 15 minutes and get off at the stop near the intersection of Route 1 and Route 8. Walk approximately 0.3 miles along Route 8 to the left to reach the entrance. The bus fare is approximately $2 per ride. Alternatively, from Northern Guam, take the local bus towards Agana and get off at the bus stop nearest to the intersection of Route 1 and Route 15. From there, walk south on Route 15 for about 15-20 minutes to reach Asan Bay Overlook. A one-way bus ticket costs approximately $1. A daily pass is about $3.

Asan Bay Overlook, completed in 1994, serves as a poignant memorial to those who perished or suffered atrocities during World War II. Perched atop a ridgeline, the overlook provides sweeping views of the seaside villages of Asan and Piti, offering a unique perspective of the landing beaches used by U.S. Marines during the Battle of Guam. The park features landscaped walkways that invite peaceful strolls, leading to a viewing platform adorned with historical photos. Commemorative bronze sculptures by Eugene Daub depict events that occurred on Guam during the Japanese occupation from 1941 to 1944 and the Battle of Guam in 1944. One sculpture includes a dedication to the artist's father, a World War II veteran. The Memorial Wall of Names lists 1,880 U.S. servicemen who died on Guam, along with 1,170 Guam residents who perished and 14,721 who suffered atrocities during the war. The overlook provides a solemn space for reflection on the battlefields below and honors the sacrifices made by both Americans and the Chamorro people.
