Getting There

Driving

If driving from the airport, take Route 10A to Marine Corps Drive (Route 1). Turn left and proceed approximately 5 miles, then turn left onto Route 6 and travel about 4 miles. The overlook will be on the right. Parking is free. Expect free parking at the Asan Bay Overlook parking lot, which is adjacent to Route 6.
Public Transport

To reach Asan Bay Overlook via public transportation, take a bus that travels towards Agana (Hagatna). Get off at the stop closest to Route 8, from there, walk approximately 0.5 miles to reach the entrance. The bus fare is typically around $2. Alternatively, from Dededo, take the bus heading south towards Hagatna, disembark at the bus stop nearest to the intersection of Route 1, then walk south along Route 1 for about 0.5 miles. Bus fares are $0.50 for one ride, $1.50 for a day pass.

Perched atop a ridgeline, it provides a sweeping vista of Asan Bay, the seaside villages of Asan and Piti, and the beaches where U.S. forces landed during the Battle of Guam in 1944.The overlook features landscaped walkways leading to a viewing platform, offering visitors a chance to contemplate the historical significance of the site. Informative plaques and commemorative bronze sculptures depict the events that unfolded on Guam during the Japanese occupation from 1941 to 1944. The Memorial Wall of Names lists the names of 1,880 U.S. servicemen who died on Guam during World War II, along with 1,170 Guamanians who perished and 14,721 who suffered atrocities during the occupation and battles.From this vantage point, one can observe how the Japanese forces strategically positioned their defenses, and visualize the arduous climb U.S. Marines undertook to secure the high ground. The site provides a solemn and peaceful atmosphere for visitors to remember the fallen and reflect on the battlefields below.
