Getting There

  • Tuk-tuk

    From the central park (Parque Central) in Antigua, walk to the nearest tuk-tuk stand. You can usually find them near the entrance of the park or along Avenida 5a Norte. Tell the driver you want to go to Panajachel, which is the town closest to Volcán Atitlán. The ride will take approximately 1-1.5 hours and costs around 60-100 quetzales. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the bus terminal in Antigua.

    After arriving at the bus terminal, look for a 'chicken bus' heading to Panajachel. These brightly painted buses leave frequently throughout the day.
