Getting There

  • Walking

    From the central area of Panajachel, head towards Calle Principal (the main street) and walk towards the lake. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Calle 14 de Febrero. Turn right on Calle 14 de Febrero, which will take you towards the main bus terminal. Proceed past the terminal and continue straight onto the road that leads north out of town. Follow this road for about 4 kilometers, which will take you along the shores of Lake Atitlán. Look for the signs for Santa Catarina Palopó, and keep an eye out for Villas B'alam Ya, which will be on your left side at Km 4.

  • Tuk Tuk

    From anywhere in Panajachel, find a tuk-tuk driver (they are quite common around town). Tell them you want to go to 'Villas B'alam Ya en Km 4 hacia Santa Catarina Palopó.' The drivers are familiar with the location and will take you there directly. The ride will take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Collective Taxi

    Head to the main collective taxi stand in Panajachel, located near the bus terminal. Look for a taxi heading towards Santa Catarina Palopó. Inform the driver that you wish to get off at Km 4 for Villas B'alam Ya. The fare is usually shared, so it will be a very economical option. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
