The Children's Museum of Guatemala: A World of Discovery

Engaging exhibits and interactive fun await at the Children's Museum of Guatemala, where learning comes to life for kids of all ages.

4.6

The Children's Museum of Guatemala, opened in February 2000, is a vibrant and engaging space where children can explore, learn, and discover through interactive exhibits. Located in Zona 13 of Guatemala City, the museum has welcomed over one and a half million school children from all over Guatemala since its opening. The museum aims to support children's education through play, offering a unique experience that combines games, knowledge, curiosity, and imagination. The museum features a variety of dynamic games and interactive puzzles that teach kids about academic subjects while also informing them about Guatemalan culture and how to be good citizens. Exhibits include a mini-supermarket, a geology section called “Rocaventura,” and a simulated earthquake. There is also a life-size version of the board game 'Operation' and a giant aerial photo of the city where children can race to locate famous monuments. The museum also boasts a ball pit, a mini football pitch, and a theater available for birthday parties and family reunions. The museum minimizes technology, encouraging children to use their imagination and interact with the objects around them. 'Chiquitenango', the museum’s micro city, allows children to 'drive' around its streets, navigate traffic lights, and interact with pretend firefighters, gas station workers, and pedestrians, teaching them to respect others and abide by traffic laws.
