The shuttle ride takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Shuttles typically depart around 8:00 am and return around 2:00 pm, allowing ample time to explore the market. Be sure to book in advance, especially on market days.

  • Chicken Bus

    For a more local and budget-friendly experience from Lake Atitlán (Panajachel), take a 'chicken bus'. First, take a bus to Sololá (Q5, 15 minutes). Then, transfer to a bus to Los Encuentros (Q5, 30 minutes). Finally, take a minivan to Chichicastenango (Q10, 1 hour). The total journey takes around 2 to 2.5 hours. Remember where you were dropped off to catch the bus back to Los Encuentros.

  • Driving

    If driving from Guatemala City, take the highway northwest. The drive is approximately 119 km and takes around 2.5 hours. Be aware that the roads can be winding and mountainous. Parking near the market can be challenging, especially on market days. Arrive early to secure a spot. Expect to pay around Q20-Q30 for parking in a guarded lot near the market.
