Getting There

    From San Juan La Laguna, follow signs towards the tourist service office at the reserve. The hike begins at the stairway leading to Mirador Kaqasiiwaan. During the day, there may be an entrance fee of Q30 to use the stairs. After about 15 minutes of hiking, you will reach the top of the stairs, where you’ll find the Kaqasiiwaan viewpoint on your right and the trail to Indian Nose on your left. Continue on the trail to reach the summit. Consider hiring a guide for safety and to avoid getting lost.

  • Tuk-tuk

    From San Pedro La Laguna, take a tuk-tuk to San Juan La Laguna. Tuk-tuks cost around Q15 and take 8-12 minutes. From there, walk to the trailhead as described in the 'Walking' guidance. Alternatively, hire a tuk-tuk directly to the entrance of the trail in San Juan La Laguna. Negotiate the price beforehand.

  • Public Transport

    From Panajachel, take a boat to San Juan La Laguna. Boats cost around Q25 and take 25-40 minutes. Once in San Juan La Laguna, walk to the trailhead as described in the 'Walking' guidance. Another option is to take a bus from Quetzaltenango to San Juan La Laguna. The bus ride takes approximately 2-3 hours.
