Nuestro guía Paolo fue la joya de la corona: simpático, divertido y lleno de historias que hicieron que la subida pareciera más una charla entre amigos que un esfuerzo físico. Gracias a él, incluso las cuestas se sintieron… bueno, casi fáciles 😅. El trek en sí es espectacular: no demasiado exigente, con vistas que te dejan sin palabras. No vimos erupciones esta vez, pero la montaña nos regaló paisajes de película. Si quieres vivir una experiencia épica con buena compañía, comida deliciosa y panorámicas de locura, este es tu plan. ¡Recomendadísimo! ⸻ 🇬🇧 Review in English A 5-star adventure from start to finish! 🌟 The organization was flawless: Rodrigo took care of everything, from delicious meals to warm clothing so we wouldn’t feel a single shiver. The guy’s basically a mountain superhero. Our guide Paolo was the absolute highlight: friendly, funny, and full of stories that made the hike feel more like hanging out with friends than climbing a volcano. Thanks to him, even the uphill bits felt… well, almost easy 😅. The trek itself is incredible: not too demanding, with jaw-dropping views. We didn’t see eruptions this time, but the scenery was straight out of a movie. If you want an epic adventure with great company, amazing food, and mind-blowing views, this is the one. Strongly recommended!

Hike to Pacaya Volcano from Antigua

Great way to see the volcano and countryside, but it's a workout on the way up!

The pick-up process went smoothly and the van is comfortable. They even stopped at a coffee shop on the way so we could get coffee and a snack if desired. The hike itself was steeper and more challenging than anticipated. We are from Colorado, USA, which is based at 5000+ feet of elevation, and are avid hikers. Hiking boots or shoes with good tread are necessary--we did not see anyone in sneakers. Hiking poles would help with the steep ascent (1000+ feet of elevation gain) and descent, which was slippery due to sand and loose stones/rocks. They do stop and provide breaks and information, and we were not hounded by the guides about the horses as other reviews noted. They offered them passively and otherwise ignored us. Bug repellant spray is a good idea and dress in layers. We had a small group of maybe 20 people in total, but spread out during the hike, did not link up with any other tours, and did not feel rushed. The total roundtrip distance was 3.75 miles. Overall, I would recommend this tour!
