Car
If you are driving from Flores, take the CA-9 highway towards Santa Elena. Continue on the CA-9 for approximately 65 kilometers until you reach the junction for the road leading to La Danta. Turn left onto the road towards La Danta (there will be signs directing you). Follow this road for about 20 kilometers, until you reach the entrance to the Mirador Basin area. Note that this is a dirt road and can be bumpy, so drive carefully. Parking is available at the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach La Danta using public transportation, start at the main bus terminal in Flores. Look for a bus heading towards La Libertad or the Mirador Basin area. The ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at the nearest drop-off point (which may be a stop along the way), you will need to arrange for a local guide or taxi to take you the remaining distance to La Danta, as the site is not directly accessible by public transport. Expect to pay around 50-100 Quetzales for this part of the journey.
Guided Tour
An alternative and highly recommended option is to book a guided tour from Flores or Santa Elena. Many tour companies offer packages that include transportation, a guide, and sometimes even meals. This option takes the hassle out of navigating and ensures you have a knowledgeable guide to enhance your experience at La Danta. Prices for these tours typically start around 250 Quetzales per person, depending on the inclusions.
