Car
If you are traveling by car in Peten, start by heading towards Flores, the main city in the region. From Flores, take the road towards San Miguel. Follow the signs for 'Carr. a San Miguel' for approximately 5 kilometers. You will see the entrance to Petencito Zoo on your right. There is parking available on-site, and it typically costs around Q10 (Guatemalan Quetzals) to park.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, head to the main bus terminal in Flores. Look for buses heading towards San Miguel. The fare is generally around Q5. Once you arrive at San Miguel, you can either walk or take a tuk-tuk (which costs about Q20) to Petencito Zoo. The zoo is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the San Miguel drop-off point, and tuk-tuks are readily available for hire.
Walking from San Miguel
If you choose to walk from San Miguel to Petencito Zoo, head south on the main road. You'll walk for about 1.5 kilometers, keeping an eye out for the zoo entrance on your left. It’s a pleasant walk, but ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially if it's hot outside.
