Reserva Chelemhá is a private natural reserve protecting 320 hectares of primary cloud forest in the Sierra Yalijux. It's a haven for ecotourism, scientific research, and the preservation of the Resplendent Quetzal and other endemic species.

Car
From Tucurú, follow the road towards Chelemhá. The reserve is located approximately 26 km (16 miles) from Tucurú. The road can be challenging, especially during the rainy season, and a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended. Contact the reserve in advance for detailed directions and to arrange transportation if needed. Note that gasoline and cash for local purchases should be obtained before arriving in the reserve.
Public Transport
From Cobán or Tucurú, take a bus or shuttle towards the village of Chelemhá. From the village, you may need to hire a local taxi or 'tuk-tuk' for the final leg of the journey to the reserve. It is best to contact the reserve in advance to arrange transportation from Tucurú, as they offer a 4x4 vehicle service. Bus fare from Panajachel to Chimaltenango is about 20 GTQ. A taxi from a main town to the reserve could cost between 300 to 500 GTQ.
