The beach also features rocky outcrops that create numerous rock pools, providing endless entertainment for explorers of all ages. Swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking are popular activities, with offshore rock formations helping to ensure relatively calm waters. Grandes Rocques has a rich history. The nearby Grandes Rocques Fort, constructed around 1779, once housed three 24-pounder guns. The fort was later modified by German occupying forces during World War II, adding to its historical intrigue. Today, visitors can explore the fort's multiple levels and enjoy panoramic views. Despite some changes over the years, including the replacement of some dunes with blue-granite armouring, Grandes Rocques remains a cherished destination for locals and tourists alike.
