Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the main town of Bissau, which is the capital of Guinea-Bissau. Drive towards the coastal region following signs to Bijagós Archipelago. The drive will take approximately 3-4 hours, depending on road conditions. Once you reach the port town of Quinhó, you will need to park your car in a secure area as cars are not allowed on the islands. Parking fees may apply, so ensure you have some local currency on hand.
Boat
From Quinhó, book a boat ride to the various islands of the Arquipelago dos Bijagos. Local fishermen or tour operators often provide boat services. The trip can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on which island you are heading to. Be prepared for variable conditions on the water, and check for the latest schedules and prices beforehand.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transport, take a shared taxi (known as 'taxi collectif') from Bissau to Quinhó. This can be more economical but will require patience as the taxi will wait to fill up before departing. Once at Quinhó, follow the previous instructions to catch a boat to the islands. Be mindful of the departure times for both the taxi and the boats to avoid long waiting times.
