Getting There

If you are starting from the city center of Bissau, head towards Avenida Amílcar Cabral, which is one of the main roads. Walk north along this road. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the roundabout near the Presidential Palace (Palácio da Presidência). From the roundabout, take the exit towards the left onto Avenida dos Combatentes da Liberdade da Pátria. Continue straight for another 5 minutes until you see a large open area on your right; this is Empire Square (Praça do Império). Starting from the Bissau Velho (Old Bissau) area, head south on Rua de Bissau Velho towards the city center. After about 15 minutes, you will reach Praça da República.
