Ensure to have cash on hand as ferry tickets may need to be purchased on-site.
Public Transport
From Bissau, you can take a shared taxi (known as a 'taxi-brousse') heading to Bolama. The shared taxi ride will take approximately 2-3 hours, and you will need to pay the driver directly in cash. Upon arriving in Bolama, ask locals for the ferry terminal to Rubane Island. The ferry operates regularly; buy your ticket at the terminal for around 10,000 CFA Francs. The ferry journey will take about 30 minutes.
Boat Transfer
If you are already in Bolama and prefer a quicker route, you can arrange for a private boat transfer to Rubane Island.
