Car
If you are traveling by car, start in the city of Labé. From Labé, head east on the N1 road towards Pita. After approximately 60 km (around 1 hour), you will reach the turnoff signposted for 'Fouta Trekking' near the village of Ndala. Follow the dirt road for about 5 km until you arrive at the Fouta Trekking site. Ensure that your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as the road can be challenging. Parking is available at the site.
Public Transportation
To reach Fouta Trekking using public transportation, take a shared taxi or bush taxi from Labé to Pita. These taxis typically leave from the taxi stand in Labé and cost around 10,000 GNF (Guinean Francs). The journey will take about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Pita, you will need to hire a local motorcycle taxi (also known as a 'bush taxi') to take you to Fouta Trekking. The motorcycle taxi ride costs approximately 5,000 GNF and will take an additional 20 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the price before starting your journey.
Hiking
For the more adventurous, if you are already in the region and enjoy hiking, you can trek to Fouta Trekking from nearby villages. The hike from Ndala village to the trekking site takes about 2 hours. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and enough water. This route offers beautiful scenery and a chance to experience local culture. You may want to ask locals for guidance if you are unfamiliar with the trails.
