Car
If you are in a major city in Lower Guinea, such as Conakry or Kindia, start your journey by heading southeast towards the N1 highway. Follow the signs for Mamou. Continue on N1 for approximately 175 km until you reach Mamou. At Mamou, take the exit toward the N3 highway. Drive along N3 for about 70 km and watch for signs indicating the direction to the Guinea Highlands. The drive will take you through beautiful landscapes, so be sure to enjoy the views along the way.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Conakry, you can catch a bus to Mamou from the main bus terminal (Gare Routière de Conakry). Buses leave frequently throughout the day and the fare is approximately 15,000 GNF. The journey takes about 4-5 hours. Once in Mamou, you can find shared taxis or bush taxis that will take you to the Guinea Highlands. The fare for a bush taxi from Mamou to the Highlands is around 10,000 GNF and the ride will take about 1-2 hours, depending on road conditions.
Shared Taxi
If you prefer more comfort and convenience, you can opt to hire a shared taxi directly from Conakry to Guinea Highlands. Shared taxis usually leave when they are full and the fare is approximately 50,000 GNF per person. The journey will take around 4-5 hours to Mamou, and then you can negotiate a fare with the driver for the final leg to the Highlands.

Once you arrive in the vicinity of Guinea Highlands, consider hiring a local guide. They can provide transportation options for exploring the area and help you navigate the terrain. Guide fees vary, but expect to pay around 100,000 GNF for a day’s tour, which can include transport and additional services.
