If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Kankan, which is a major hub in Middle Guinea. Head southeast on the N1 highway towards the town of Faranah. After approximately 70 kilometers, you will reach Faranah. Continue on the N1 for another 40 kilometers until you see signs for the Guinea Highlands. The scenic route will take you through some beautiful landscapes, so make sure to enjoy the views. The total drive should take about 2 hours.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin your journey in Kankan. Head to the main bus station and look for a bus heading to Faranah. The ticket price is usually around 5,000 GNF. The bus ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Faranah, you can hire a local taxi or take a moto-taxi to the Guinea Highlands, which is about 30 kilometers away. Expect to pay around 15,000 GNF for the taxi ride. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
Shared Taxi
Another option is to take a shared taxi from Kankan to Faranah. These shared taxis leave when they are full and can be found near the main bus station. The fare is similar to the bus, about 5,000 GNF, but the journey may be quicker if the taxi fills up fast. Upon reaching Faranah, hire a moto-taxi to the Guinea Highlands for about 15,000 GNF.
