Getting There

  • Car

    If you are starting from the main entrance of Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve, head south on the main road (Route Nationale 1) towards the town of N'Zérékoré. Continue on this road for approximately 45 kilometers until you reach the fork at the village of Doko. Take the left fork, which is Route 9, and follow the signs towards the Nimba Range. You'll need to drive for another 30 kilometers on this road until you reach the base of the Nimba Range. Note that the last part of the journey will lead you to unpaved roads, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain.

  • Public Transportation

    From the Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve entrance, take a shared taxi or 'clando' heading towards N'Zérékoré. Let the driver know you are going to the Nimba Range; they will likely drop you off at the fork in Doko. From there, you may need to negotiate a motorbike taxi to take you to the base of the Nimba Range. Expect to pay around 10,000 to 15,000 GNF for the taxi ride from the reserve to N'Zérékoré, and an additional 5,000 GNF for the motorbike taxi from Doko to the Nimba Range base.

  • Hiking

    If you're adventurous and physically fit, you can hike to Nimba Range from the nearest village, Doko. Starting from the village, follow the trails marked by local guides, which lead through the scenic landscape towards the Nimba Range. This trek can take several hours depending on your pace, so be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. Hiring a local guide for this part is recommended, and they typically charge around 20,000 to 30,000 GNF for the day.
