Walking
Start at the Bartica waterfront, where many local activities take place. From the waterfront, head east towards the main road. Once you reach the main road, turn right and walk along the road until you reach the Bartica Market area. This area is busy and has many shops where you can ask locals for directions. Continue walking straight until you reach the main junction near the Bartica Police Station. At the junction, take the road leading north towards the river. Follow this road as it winds north, and keep an eye out for public transportation options such as mini-buses or ‘bushy’ buses that may take you towards Georgetown. If you prefer to walk, continue until you reach the area where the mini-buses are stationed.
Mini-bus
Once you are at the bus station in Bartica, look for a mini-bus heading to Georgetown. The fare is typically inexpensive, usually around GYD 500-1000. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will be stopping at the Soesdyke Linden Highway area. The journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the traffic. Once you arrive in Georgetown, ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Soesdyke Linden Highway. From there, it is a short walk to the Welcome to Linden Monument, which is located along the highway.
Walking from the bus stop
After getting off the mini-bus, make your way to Soesdyke Linden Highway. The Welcome to Linden Monument will be visible from the highway. Walk towards the monument, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. Be cautious of traffic as you walk along the highway.
