All inclusive Essequibo River Tour
Outstanding Guyanese Adventure with Dagron Tours!
Our group recently experienced top-tier service from this company. They seamlessly organized our entire 8-day itinerary in Guyana, flawlessly handling our hotels, meals, excursions, and logistics while keeping everything strictly on budget. The guides were outstanding across the board, particularly on our Second day in Guyana, The Essequibo River Tour was exceptionally well-managed: • Punctual & Professional Start: Our tour started precisely on time at 6:45 AM, departing from the Dagron office. Our guide, David—who is fantastic, highly articulate, and a true history buff—introduced himself and gave us a thorough safety briefing before the bus took off. • Fort Island: Thanks to our early start, we were the first to arrive at the pier. Our captain, a conscientious man named Mack, navigated the river safely. We landed on Fort Island, a former Dutch enclave dating back to the 1700s. We toured the museum and walked to the fort, soaking in the rich history of one of Guyana's most notable historical sites. • Bartica & Sloth Island: Next, we headed to Bartica, a vibrant mining town filled with a bustling market and small riverside cafes. From there, we traveled to Sloth Island for an incredible lunch stop. We spent about 90 minutes exploring the extended walkway with our excellent Amerindian host and guide, Claude, who taught us about the local flora. Afterward, we enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the clean, inviting waters of the Essequibo River. • Mazaruni & Baracara Falls: We then navigated to the Mazaruni River to see Guyana's oldest prison, which remains operational today, followed by a stop at Baracara Falls; though the water flow was light, the area was pristine and we thoroughly enjoyed refreshing ourselves. • Kyk-Over-Al: Our final stop was Kyk-Over-Al, a picturesque spot on the river marked by its iconic lone brick arch, which stands as a beautiful testament to the region's colonial past. Thanks to Dagron Tours for one of several excursions in Guyana.
