Car
If you are driving, head south on the Berbice River road. Follow the signs for Kurupukari. After approximately 2 hours of driving, you will reach the Kurupukari Crossing on the Essequibo River. The Iwokrama River Lodge is located just a short distance from the crossing. Look for signs directing you to the lodge.
Public Transportation
To reach Iwokrama River Lodge via public transportation, take a minibus from New Amsterdam to Kurupukari. The journey may take around 3 hours. Once you arrive in Kurupukari, you can take a taxi or walk to the lodge, which is nearby. Make sure to ask for directions to Iwokrama River Lodge, as the locals can provide assistance. The minibus fare is typically around GYD 1,500.
Boat
If you are near the river, you may also consider taking a boat to the lodge. You can hire a boat from local fishermen at Kurupukari Crossing. Ensure you agree on the price beforehand, which may vary based on your negotiation skills. This option allows you to enjoy the scenic views of the Essequibo River on your way to the lodge.
