Car
If you're driving, take the CA-11 road from any nearby town, such as Gracias or La Entrada. Follow the signs for Copán Ruinas. Once you reach the town, continue on the main road until you see the signs for Copán Ruins. The site is located just a few kilometers from the town center on the CA-11 road. There is parking available at the entrance, but be aware that there may be a small fee for parking.
Public Transportation
To reach Copán Ruins using public transportation, start by taking a bus from the nearest major city, such as San Pedro Sula or Tegucigalpa. Look for a bus that is heading to Copán Ruinas. The bus ride will typically take around 6 to 8 hours depending on your starting point. Once you arrive in Copán Ruinas, you can take a taxi or walk to the ruins, which are about a 2 km distance from the town center. Taxis are available near the bus terminal, and the fare should be around 50-100 Lempira, depending on negotiation.
Taxi
If you're already in Copán Ruinas and wish to take a taxi to the Copán Ruins, you can easily find taxis around the town. Just tell the driver you want to go to 'Las Ruinas de Copán'. The journey will take about 5-10 minutes, and the fare should not exceed 100 Lempira. It's always good to confirm the price before starting your ride.
Walking
If you are staying in the town of Copán Ruinas, walking to the ruins is also an option. The walk is approximately 2 km and takes about 30 minutes. Head towards the main road (CA-11) and follow the signs for Las Ruinas. The path is straightforward, and you'll enjoy the scenic views along the way.
