Walk
From the Inner City, head towards the Danube River. If you're near the famous Chain Bridge (Lánchíd), cross over to the Buda side. Once you reach the Buda side, follow the signs that indicate Buda Castle or head up the hill towards the direction of the castle. The walk will take about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace. The path is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the river and the city.
Funicular
Alternatively, after walking to the Buda side from the Chain Bridge, you can take the Buda Castle Funicular. Located at Clark Ádám Square, this funicular ride will take you directly up to Buda Castle. The cost for a single ticket is approximately 1,200 HUF (Hungarian Forint) as of 2023. The ride is quick and offers stunning views of the city as you ascend the hill.
Bus
You can also opt for public transport. From the Inner City, find the nearest bus stop and take bus number 16 towards the 'Moszkva tér' station. Get off at the 'Szentháromság tér' stop, which is very close to Buda Castle. The bus ride takes about 15-20 minutes. A ticket costs around 350 HUF, which you can purchase at any metro station or ticket vending machine.
