Getting there

Public Transport

From Tatabánya, head to the Tatabánya train station (Tatabánya Vasútállomás). Take a train towards Budapest, and ensure you get on one that stops at Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station). The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Nyugati Pályaudvar, exit the station and take tram number 4 or 6 from the tram stop right outside the station towards Széll Kálmán tér. Get off at Széll Kálmán tér and transfer to bus number 16 or 16A. Ride the bus for about 10 minutes until you reach Szent György tér, which is the stop for Buda Castle.

Walking

If you're near the Buda side, you can start walking from the nearest tram stop (Széll Kálmán tér). From the tram stop, head down the street towards the Buda Castle area. Follow the signs towards Buda Castle, which will involve a slight uphill walk. It should take about 15-20 minutes of walking to reach the entrance of Buda Castle.

Taxi

You can also take a taxi from any location in Tatabánya to Buda Castle. Just ask the driver to take you to 'Szent György tér, Buda Castle.' The journey will likely take around 1 hour depending on traffic conditions. Make sure to agree on the fare or ask for the meter to be used.
