Public Transport
From the Tatabánya train station, take the MÁV train towards Budapest. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Budapest's Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station), exit the station and walk to the nearby Nyugati Square. From here, catch tram number 4 or 6 towards Széll Kálmán tér. Ride the tram for approximately 15 minutes and get off at the 'Moszkva tér' stop. Transfer to the 'Deli Palyaudvar' metro station and take metro line M2 towards Déli pályaudvar. After 2 stops, get off at 'Deák Ferenc tér' and transfer to metro line M1 towards Mexikói út. Ride for one stop and get off at 'Vörösmarty tér'. From here, walk approximately 10 minutes towards the Buda Castle area, following signs to Szent György tér, where the Hungarian National Gallery is located.
