History and Foundations

The Etyeki Kúria Winery, known as Etyeki Manor Vineyard, was established in 1996 on the Öreghegy (Old Hill) in Etyek, part of the Etyek-Buda wine region. Starting with just two hectares, it has grown to 54 hectares across Etyek-Buda and Sopron. This area, often called the 'vineyard of Budapest,' benefits from a cool climate, constant breezes, and limestone soils ideal for Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and sparkling wines. The winery pioneered Pinot Noir planting for red wines in the region, blending local traditions with innovative techniques under head winemaker Sándor Mérész, a multiple nominee for Hungary's top winemaker award.

Vineyards and Winemaking

Etyek-Buda vineyards yield zesty whites and lively sparklers comparable to Burgundy or Champagne, while Sopron plots near Neusiedler Lake produce age-worthy reds like Kékfrankos and Merlot. The 2013-opened modern facility features gravity-flow processing in a partly underground structure for energy efficiency. Guests glimpse winemaking through glass walls, especially during harvest when selection tables operate beside the terrace.
