Walking
From the center of Salgótarján, start at the main square (Fő tér). Head northwest on Rákóczi út towards Kossuth Lajos utca. After about 500 meters, turn left onto Kossuth Lajos utca. Continue for approximately 1 km until you reach the intersection with Bányász utca. Turn right onto Bányász utca and follow it for about 300 meters. You will see a sign for Salgói vár indicating a hiking path. Follow the trail signs uphill for about 30 minutes. The fortress will be visible as you approach, sitting atop the hill.

From the main bus station in Salgótarján, take bus number 4 towards Salgótarján - Tótfalu. After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the Salgótarján - Várhegy stop.
