Discovering the Historical Significance of Koronázódomb Emlékhely

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the city center of Sopron, head towards the main square, Fő tér. From there, exit the square to the southeast onto Új utca. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Várkerület. Turn left onto Várkerület and follow it as it curves. You will soon see the impressive Firewatch Tower (Tűztorony) on your right. Keep walking along Várkerület until you reach the intersection with Koronázódomb street. Turn right onto Koronázódomb street and continue walking for about 10 minutes. The Koronázódomb Emlékhely will be on your left at number 11. Look for the entrance that leads to the memorial area.

• Public Transport

  To reach Koronázódomb Emlékhely using public transport, start by making your way to the nearest bus stop, which is Sopron, Széchenyi tér. From here, take bus number 1 (direction: Sopron, Kossuth L. u.). After about 5 minutes, get off at the Koronázódomb bus stop. From the bus stop, walk up the short path to Koronázódomb street. The memorial is located at number 11, just a few minutes walk from the bus stop. Follow the signs to the memorial site.

• Biking

  If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle in the city center. Start from the main square, Fő tér, and head towards Várkerület. Once you reach Várkerület, turn left and follow the road as it curves. After passing the Firewatch Tower, continue straight until you reach Koronázódomb street. Turn right onto Koronázódomb street and bike for about 10 minutes. The Koronázódomb Emlékhely will be on your left at number 11. There are bike racks available for parking your bike at the entrance.
