Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Magyaregregy, which is located off Route 66. From Pécs, take Route 6 towards Szigetvár, then merge onto Route 66. Follow Route 66 until you reach the village of Magyaregregy. Once in the village, look for signs directing you to Máré-vár. There is a parking area near the castle where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transportation
To reach Máré-vár by public transportation, take a train from Pécs to Szigetvár. From Szigetvár, you will need to catch a local bus to Magyaregregy. Buses may not run frequently, so be sure to check the schedule in advance. Once you arrive in Magyaregregy, follow the signs to Máré-vár, which is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Szigetvár to Magyaregregy if you prefer a more direct route.
Walking from Local Transport
If you arrive in Magyaregregy by bus or taxi, you can reach Máré-vár by walking. From the bus stop, head northeast on the main road (Fő utca) for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see directional signs leading you to the castle. The walk will take approximately 20-25 minutes.
