Experience Szechenyi Square

Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the city center, head southeast towards Széchenyi tér, which is a well-known square in Szeged. You can start from the Votive Church (Fogadalmi templom); walk down Kárász utca, one of Szeged's main pedestrian streets, until you reach the end. From there, turn left onto Széchenyi utca. Continue straight until you reach Széchenyi tér. The square will be on your right, and you will see the large open area with beautiful architecture surrounding it.

  • Public Transport

    From the Szeged train station (Szegedi pályaudvar), you can take a tram. Board tram line 1 (to Felső Tisza-part, through the city center). Ride for about 5 stops and disembark at Széchenyi tér. The square is well-marked and is a major stop, so you will be able to see it as you approach.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Anna Medical Bath (Anna Fürdő), exit the building and walk northwest. Head towards the Tisza River, and follow the promenade along the riverbank until you reach the bridge over the Tisza. Cross the bridge, and then head directly south to Széchenyi tér. It’s about a 20-minute walk and offers scenic views of the river.

    If you have access to a bike, you can ride along the Tisza River. Start by heading south towards the riverbank, then follow the bike paths along the river. Continue until you reach the Széchenyi tér area. This route is picturesque and will take approximately 15 minutes from central locations.
