From Tatabanya, head to the Tatabanya train station (Tatabánya Vasútállomás). You can take a local train (such as the regional train) towards Budapest. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Budapest Nyugati Railway Station, exit the station and head to the nearby Nyugati tér tram stop. Take tram line 4 or 6 towards Széll Kálmán tér. Get off at the stop called 'Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út'. From there, walk straight towards Szabadság tér, which should take around 5-10 minutes.

From Tatabanya, go to the local bus station and board a bus that heads towards Budapest. Buses frequently run to Budapest and the journey will take about 1.5 hours. You should look for a bus that stops at Nyugati Railway Station. Once you arrive, follow the directions provided for public transport above to reach Szabadság tér.

If you are already close to the city center of Tatabanya, you can walk to the Tatabanya train station. Once there, follow the public transport directions to Budapest Szabadság tér. This may take longer, so consider the local transport options for convenience.
